The latest issue of Stratiotiki Istoria [Military History] magazine has just been published and includes an article of mine examining the influence of the New Military History movement on Greek historiography.

This year marks the magazine’s 30th anniversary. On a personal level, I am especially pleased to have been part of its journey since 2014, contributing a total of 36 articles over the years.

Writing for Stratiotiki Istoria has been both a dream fulfilled and an invaluable learning experience. It provided me with a platform to explore and express my research interests in a rigorous way, while helping me develop my research and writing skills from my undergraduate years through to the present day.

I am grateful to have contributed, in my own small way, to the history of a publication that has played such an important role in promoting military history in Greece.

In 2001, only a few Greek families used the internet; mine was not among them. Eminem released Lose Yourself, a song that introduced many of us to the world of hip-hop. At the same time, countless people unleashed their misogyny upon the mistress of a U.S. president. It was the year Al-Qaeda terrorists struck the United States, causing thousands of deaths. Panathinaikos did not win the Greek championship.

I am especially grateful for the opportunity to meet so many interesting and inspiring people, whose perspectives made this experience even more memorable.

My Opinion on Louis Theroux’s “Inside the Manosphere”

I have to admit it. I never fully understood how people become influenced by online personalities. This isn’t meant in an elitist sense; rather, I’ve simply never felt the appeal of random internet figures who present simplistic interpretations of how the world works. What can an unsuccessful boxer truly teach about human relationships? What insight can a 20-year-old unemployed high school dropout lacking education/skills/meaningful experience offer? Most importantly, why do people feel compelled to follow them?
