I am delighted to be back home!

Following the award of the Sylff Research Grant for my project, “Minority Belonging and State Formation in Postwar Greece (1945-1967),” I am honoured to have been appointed as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

I am truly excited to return to an academic environment where I had the pleasure of working with and learning from people I deeply admire, whose collaboration made my PhD journey so rewarding. It is also a privilege to become part of Greece’s oldest and one of its most historic academic institutions.

I have to admit it. I never fully understood how people become influenced by online personalities. This isn’t meant in an elitist sense; rather, I’ve simply never felt the appeal of random internet figures who present simplistic interpretations of how the world works. What can an unsuccessful boxer truly teach about human relationships? What insight can a 20-year-old unemployed high school dropout lacking education/skills/meaningful experience offer? Most importantly, why do people feel compelled to follow them?
